Judy Brewer WID Senior Fellow.
Judy Brewer brings extensive international expertise in digital accessibility, experience in U.S. science and technology policymaking, and insights from her recent work as an Executive Fellow in Applied Technology Policy at the University of California, Berkeley. Her experience supports WID’s mission, vision, and current activities.
During 2026, Brewer partnered with WID through the Disability 20 (D20) Steering Committee and at the United Nations in connection with the 20th anniversary of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.
As a WID Senior Fellow, Brewer will promote awareness of the need for disability-inclusive technology policymaking and of the resources available to strengthen it. She will also advise WID on disability-related technology policy issues as needed.

What is a WID Senior Fellow, and how does this role relate to WID’s other fellowship activities?
WID has a long history of engaging and supporting disability leaders, advocates, researchers, and other experts through fellowships and related opportunities aligned with WID’s mission and work.
WID currently hosts the Global Heumann Fellowship, established in 2023 to honor the legacy of WID co-founder Judy Heumann.
The WID Senior Fellow designation is distinct from the Global Heumann Fellowship. It gives WID a way to engage established leaders and subject-matter experts whose knowledge and experience can contribute to WID’s work and advance areas of shared interest. Senior Fellows may provide thought leadership, advise WID in their areas of expertise, promote awareness of issues and resources relevant to WID’s mission, and collaborate with WID on specific initiatives.
Will WID appoint additional Senior Fellows?
WID is exploring opportunities to expand and further develop its fellowship offerings, including ways to engage disability leaders at different stages of their careers and with different areas of expertise. Judy Brewer’s appointment as a Senior Fellow provides an opportunity to engage her extensive expertise in digital accessibility and disability-inclusive technology policy while WID continues this broader work.
The Senior Fellow designation is not currently an open fellowship program or application opportunity. WID will share additional information about Fellowship opportunities as these efforts develop.
